The foundation of our Hosta Garden collection is from renowned hosta aficionado Cornelia Holland of Franklin Tennessee. Over 500 varieties of hosta are included and were divided, dug, and transplanted into the garden in 2013 that was designed by Ben Ford – a UT graduate student at the time. Also included are many Japanese maples, rohdeas, and azaleas. Additionally, statuary and a Torii gate give this garden a uniquely Japanese feel. It is recognized by the American Hosta Society as a reference garden – one of only three in the Southeast US.
