Monarch Waystation

The Monarch Waystation serves as a ‘pit-stop’ for migrating Monarch butterflies and is planted with several species of milkweed for larval development and other pollinator friendly plants for food and cover. The UT Student Environmental Initiatives Fund made the creation of this garden possible in 2020. Local artist Derek White created the butterfly bench and Monarch egg sculpture. Each fall a team Monarch watches captures, tags, and releases Monarchs and enters into the national database to determine population stability and migration patterns.
