The University of Tennessee Bee Campus Committee, a group comprised of UT faculty, staff and students, in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority and UT Gardens, invites communities across the state to celebrate Pollinator Week at a series of pollinator events on June 18, 2024.

Pollinator Week is an annual celebration in support of pollinator health, initiated and managed by Pollinator Partnership. Garden Buzz will offer participants opportunities to learn more about pollinators in Tennessee through educational sessions and to fill their gardens with locally grown plants that attract pollinators.

Image of shape of Tennessee with markers near each UT Gardens location across the state. The markers have images from those gardens: the bottle wall in Jackson, the cow mad of plant materials in Crossville, and a monarch butterfly in Knoxville. Connecting the markers is a dotted line with the text "Plants. People. Passion." written along it. The UT Gardens logo is in the bottom right part of the state.

There will be Garden Buzz Pollinator Parties on June 18th across the state of Tennessee at all three UT Gardens locations. Pollinator Parties will include pollinator party pack giveaways while supplies last, education, and garden tours.

Each UT Gardens location will have its own event; plant selections and event activities may differ across the state.

At the UT Gardens, we are always happy to support pollinator-friendly gardening. In Knoxville, we even have a certified Monarch Waystation and often have pollinator-related research projects throughout the Gardens.

Pollinator Partnership Logo

Pollinator Week was initiated and is managed by Pollinator Partnership, and fourteen years ago the U.S. Senate’s unanimous approval and designation of a week in June as “National Pollinator Week” marked a necessary step toward addressing the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations. Pollinator Week has now grown into an international celebration, promoting the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats, beetles, moths, wasps, and flies.

People across the planet have pledged to continue promoting pollinator health and well-being through their Pollinator Week events. Through the numerous virtual and in-person gatherings, webinars, planting sessions, garden and farm walks, and monument lightings, Pollinator Week 2024 is geared to be the busiest and best one yet!
