Hillside Perennial Garden

Along the steep bank beyond the rock garden is the Hillside Perennial Garden that represents the New Perennial Plant Movement concept of landscape design. Perennials are planted in vary close proximity to each other so that they form a dense mat which aids in weed suppression and requires little mulch. Species in this Garden include Salvia, penstemon, iris, daylilies, ornamental grasses, echinacea, guara, and others, assuring that something is usually in flower. This has the additional advantage of providing a home for pollinators and other beneficial insects.
